Emergency numbers (Notrufnummern) in Germany
An Iranian national in Germany should call 112 for fire or a life-threatening medical emergency, 110 for urgent police danger and 116117 for urgent medical help when practices are closed and treatment cannot wait. Use German emergency numbers rather than those used in Iran.
Step by step
- Call the appropriate numberUse 112 for fire or medical emergencies, 110 for police danger, or 116117 for urgent out-of-hours medical care.
- Explain and follow instructionsGive the location, incident and affected people, answer questions and follow the dispatcher’s instructions.
112 reaches fire and emergency rescue services. Use it for acute danger from fire or accidents and medical emergencies requiring life-saving help or prevention of serious harm. 110 is the police emergency number for actual danger. An online police report is not the emergency route.
116117 is for urgent but non-life-threatening medical problems outside normal practice hours when care cannot wait until the next day. For a problem that can wait, contact your usual practice during opening hours.
Give the precise location first: city or district, street, building number and useful access details. Explain briefly what happened, how many people are affected and the nature of the injuries or illness. Give your name and callback number, answer the dispatcher’s questions and follow their instructions.
