Deutsche Telefonnummer: activate and keep a number
Iranian nationals obtaining a German mobile number must complete the provider's identification process. For prepaid service, the law permits qualifying foreign identity documents and residence titles; confirm a supported route before buying the SIM.
Step by step
- Confirm identification before purchaseAsk the provider about your Iranian passport or residence document, check the tariff and complete verification; arrange any number transfer separately from cancelling the old contract.
Before activation the provider records required subscriber details. For prepaid verification, §172 TKG includes a valid officially recognised foreign passport or identity substitute and residence titles among the permitted documents. Ask specifically whether its shop or remote process can verify your Iranian passport or residence document; one failed online route does not establish a legal nationality ban.
If changing providers, the receiving provider coordinates number porting. Consumers are not charged a direct number-porting fee under §59. Moving a mobile number before the old contract ends does not itself cancel that contract or its payments. Check the new tariff, old contract end and agreed transfer date together.
