Auto kaufen: contract, condition and registration
Iranian residents buying a car in Germany should check the vehicle, seller and contract before payment, then arrange insurance and registration. Buying a car does not establish permission to drive it; the Iranian licence recognition rules remain separate.
Step by step
- Check before payment and handoverCheck the seller, condition, documents and written terms, clarify defect rights and arrange registration, insurance and a legally permitted driver for handover.
Record the agreed vehicle, price, condition and handover terms clearly. The seller's duties include handing over the vehicle and transferring ownership without legal or material defects under the applicable rules. Check the vehicle documents and inspection position before committing, and identify whether the seller is a business or a private person.
Defect rights can include repair or replacement and, under further conditions, price reduction, withdrawal or damages. Consumer purchases from a business have additional protections; do not treat a used-car label as a complete waiver. Prepare the relevant registration procedure, liability-insurance confirmation and tax arrangements before driving away, and verify your own licence entitlement.
