Overview
Majale is a directory of Persian businesses. You can use it without an account. You only need to sign in to suggest a new business or report a problem with a listing.
We collect as little as possible. We do not show ads and we do not sell data.

Using the app without an account
Your settings and the places you save stay on your phone. We do not receive them.
If you allow it, the app uses your location to show places near you. Your location stays on your phone and is never sent to us. You can turn it off at any time.
Signing in
To suggest a business or report a problem, you sign in with Apple or Google. There is no password and no profile.
We receive your email address from Apple or Google. With Apple you can choose to hide your email, and we then receive a private address from Apple instead. We do not receive your name or photo.
We use your account to link your suggestions and reports to you, to show you their status, and to keep the directory free of spam. Legal basis: Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR (providing the service you asked for) and Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR (our legitimate interest in preventing spam).
Suggestions and reports
When you suggest a business or report a problem, we store what you send, linked to your account. To spot abuse, we also keep a scrambled form of your IP address, never the address itself.
Suggestions are checked before they appear in the app. Approved business details become part of the public directory. Your account is never shown publicly.
You can add up to three photos of the business to a suggestion. Choose them yourself from your photo library; the app never opens your camera or library on its own. Before we store a photo, we remove its hidden details, such as where and when it was taken. Photos are checked like the rest of the suggestion, and approved photos are shown publicly with the business. Please only send photos of the business, not of people.
To suggest a business, you share it from Google Maps and paste the link into the app. Our server asks Google Maps where the link points, to check that the business exists. If the link has no map position, our server looks up the business address on OpenStreetMap to place it on the map. Nothing about you is sent to Google or OpenStreetMap for this.
Crash reports and usage statistics
The app uses Google Firebase to report crashes and to show us how the app is used, so we can fix problems and improve it. This does not use advertising identifiers and is not used for advertising. We never record what you search for. Legal basis: Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR (our legitimate interest in a stable and useful app).
Who receives data
We work with these service providers, only for the purposes above:
- Google: sign-in with Google, checking Google Maps links, crash reports and usage statistics.
- Apple: Sign in with Apple.
- Contabo (Germany): our server.
- Cloudflare: network security for our server.
Some of them may process data in the United States. These transfers are protected by the EU-U.S. Data Privacy Framework and the European Commission's standard contractual clauses.
How long we keep data
- Account: until you delete it.
- Suggestions and reports: as long as they are needed for the directory. After you delete your account, they are no longer linked to you.
- Crash reports and usage statistics: at most 14 months.
If we block an account for abuse, we keep a minimal record after deletion so the same account cannot sign up again. It does not include your email address.
Deleting your account
You can delete your account at any time in the app: Settings, Account, Delete account. This removes your email address and signs you out on all devices. You can also ask us to delete it through appfium.com/#contact.
Your rights
Under the GDPR you have the right to access your data, to have it corrected or deleted, to restrict its use, to receive a copy of it, and to object to its use. To use these rights, contact us through appfium.com/#contact.
You can also complain to a data protection authority. Ours is the Berlin Commissioner for Data Protection and Freedom of Information (Berliner Beauftragte für Datenschutz und Informationsfreiheit), Alt-Moabit 59-61, 10555 Berlin.
Children
Majale is not meant for children under 16.
Changes to this policy
We update this policy when the app changes. The date at the top shows the latest version.
