Post: keep letters reaching you after a move
Iranian residents in Germany should arrange reliable receipt of mail when moving or visiting Iran. A Deutsche Post Nachsendeauftrag can forward eligible letters, but has exclusions; update important senders directly and check the service before relying on it.
Step by step
- Arrange continued mail accessUpdate important senders, check forwarding exclusions and names, and order through Deutsche Post with enough lead time for the intended start.
Deutsche Post's forwarding service can be ordered through its official shop, branches or a Poststation, using old and new addresses and the names to be covered. Its ordinary start requires five working days' lead time. Check the intended period and people carefully; additional names cannot simply be added later.
The service does not normally forward DHL parcels or small parcels, and a sender's no-forwarding instruction prevents forwarding. Formal service documents have special restrictions, especially outside the municipality. Forwarding abroad has more exclusions and possible additional charges; do not assume all official mail will reach Iran. Give important offices and other senders your current address directly and keep access to incoming correspondence.
