Arbeitslosengeld: eligibility and registration
Iranian nationals in Germany may qualify for Arbeitslosengeld through insured periods and availability for permitted work. Register as job-seeking promptly, register as unemployed and complete the benefit application; losing a job alone does not establish payment.
Step by step
- Register and complete the claimMeet the job-seeking deadline, register as unemployed and give the agency your insurance and work-permission details for assessment.
The general qualifying period is at least twelve insured months within the thirty months before unemployment and registration; special cases can differ. Availability includes being able and legally permitted to take suitable insured work for at least fifteen hours weekly. Have the agency check your residence-related work permission and insurance periods; Iranian employment is not automatically counted under European coordination rules.
Register as job-seeking at least three months before employment ends, or within three days of learning the end date if less notice remains. This is separate from unemployment registration, which is needed for benefit. The agency also needs the completed benefit information. Resignation or an agreed termination can cause a suspension unless a recognised important reason applies.
