Personalausweis after German citizenship
An Iranian national without German citizenship cannot obtain a German Personalausweis merely by living in Germany. After naturalisation, apply personally at the Bürgeramt; the German ID card and an electronic residence permit are different documents.
Step by step
- Prepare and attendAfter confirming German citizenship, book the service, prepare the first-document evidence and digital photo, and attend the Bürgeramt personally.
Berlin requires German citizenship and personal attendance. For a first German document after naturalisation, prepare the naturalisation certificate and previous nationality’s passport or ID, or the LEA identity certificate listed by the city.
Arrange the digital biometric photo through an authorised provider or the authority. Check your names and birth details before submission. Follow the office’s collection and PIN instructions, and keep the online identity credentials private.
