Arbeitszeit: hours, breaks and rest
Iranian employees in Germany are covered by the applicable working-time protections too. Check daily hours, breaks and rest between shifts against the law and your contract; an immigration work limit remains a separate condition.
Step by step
- Check your rotaCompare scheduled hours, breaks and rest with your contract and the applicable rules, and clarify any exception and residence-related work limit.
The general statutory rule is eight hours per working day. Extension to ten requires an average of no more than eight over six calendar months or twenty-four weeks. This is a daily protection rule, not a promise that every contract has the same weekly hours. Special rules and permitted deviations can apply.
Breaks total at least thirty minutes for work over six up to nine hours, and forty-five minutes above nine; individual portions must be at least fifteen minutes. The general uninterrupted rest between workdays is eleven hours, with specified sector exceptions. Compare the actual rota with these rules and ask payroll or your supervisor to explain discrepancies.
