Iranian employees in Germany must notify their employer promptly of incapacity and its expected duration. Obtain medical certification on time even where the electronic process applies. Illness starting during a stay in Iran requires additional notifications.

- Notify and obtain certificationInform the employer immediately, check its certificate deadline and obtain medical evidence; if abroad, notify the fund and give the employer your local address.
Tell the employer immediately rather than waiting for the doctor's appointment. If incapacity lasts more than three calendar days, the ordinary certification deadline is the next working day; the employer can require it earlier. Statutory members covered by the electronic procedure still need timely medical determination and their patient certificate. Exceptions require a different evidence route.
If illness starts abroad, tell the employer by the fastest available means, including the expected duration and address where you are staying. Statutory members must also inform their Krankenkasse, report extensions and notify employer and fund promptly on returning while still unfit. Continued wages generally require four uninterrupted weeks of employment and can last up to six weeks under the statutory conditions.
