Gewerbe anmelden: starting a business
Iranian nationals starting a trade in Germany must check residence permission and any sector licence before operating. Register a qualifying Gewerbe when the business starts, then complete tax registration; the trade confirmation does not replace these permissions.

A stationary commercial business must be notified at the start of operations. Free professions and other excluded activities follow different rules, so clarify classification first. For an Iranian residence holder, confirm that self-employment is permitted under the actual title or obtain the necessary authorisation before beginning.
In Berlin the responsible office is the Ordnungsamt where the business is based. The official service provides online routes by legal form and a local form route; evidence depends on the legal form, including residence-title information for non-EU applicants. Although the office forwards registration data, ELSTER separately requires the tax-registration questionnaire within one month of starting activity.
