Schulferien: plan travel around school dates
Iranian families in Germany should use the school calendar for their own federal state before booking travel to Iran. In Berlin, check the official holiday dates and any school-specific calendar; extra absence requires the school's applicable leave procedure.
Step by step
- Check dates before bookingCheck the state and school calendar, clarify any necessary leave with the school and book travel only after the attendance dates are clear.
Berlin publishes its school holidays and non-teaching days by school year. Some named schools have separate holiday arrangements, so check your child's school as well as the general calendar. The official calendar can be imported or subscribed to; the general file does not include every school-specific or religious arrangement.
School attendance remains compulsory outside approved exceptions. A family trip is not automatically excused because flights are cheaper or relatives in Iran expect a longer stay. Ask the school about any necessary leave before committing to dates. Religious exemptions follow their own conditions and cannot be inferred merely from Iranian nationality.
