Arranging Krankenversicherung in Germany
An Iranian resident must clarify health cover for their work, study or protection status in Germany. Ask a Krankenkasse or the responsible benefits office which route applies; an Iranian or travel policy is not automatically adequate for a residence application.

Section 5 SGB V names statutory insurance categories including employees and students, with conditions and exceptions. Your exact employment, age, previous cover and residence situation matter. Get confirmation of your insurance status rather than choosing a route from nationality alone.
For Berlin’s study residence procedure, German statutory insurance or comparable private cover is required; foreign cover is generally insufficient. If you receive healthcare under the Asylum Seekers Benefits Act, the responsible authority arranges the statutory healthcare benefits. This is a separate route from assuming ordinary Krankenkasse membership.
