Finding a doctor with Arztsuche
An Iranian resident can use the official Arztsuche to find a doctor in Germany and ask the practice about appointments, language and accepted cover. For urgent illness when practices are closed, call 116117; for a life-threatening emergency call 112.
Step by step
- Choose the right urgencyUse 112 for life-threatening emergencies and 116117 for urgent out-of-hours care; otherwise contact a practice.
- Arrange the visitUse Arztsuche, then confirm the appointment, language needs and accepted insurance or benefits documentation with the practice.
For a problem that can wait for normal opening hours, a primary-care practice is a starting point. Use the official doctor search and contact the practice directly. Ask whether it can communicate in Persian or another language you understand, rather than assuming an interpreter is provided.
The medical on-call service handles urgent problems that cannot wait until practices reopen but are not life-threatening. The nationwide 116117 call is free and available around the clock. Its service can identify a suitable on-call practice or direct your next step. In life-threatening situations use the emergency rescue number 112.
