Proof of funds with a Sperrkonto
An Iranian applicant may use a Sperrkonto as proof of funds where the German visa or residence procedure accepts it. Check the amount for your precise purpose and the responsible German mission; a blocked account does not replace a visa or guarantee its approval.
Step by step
- Confirm the requirementUse the official procedure for your purpose to confirm whether a blocked account is accepted and the required amount.
- Check the provider and fundClarify identity checks, fees, funding and the correct beneficiary before opening; keep the account confirmation for the application.
The required deposit depends on the purpose of stay. The Federal Foreign Office points applicants to the responsible mission or consular portal for the applicable amount. Provider fees are extra, and monthly withdrawals are restricted. Before paying, ask how the provider will identify your Iranian passport and handle your funding route.
Name the mission as blocking beneficiary before visa issue or use, or the responsible immigration office after entry, as applicable. The beneficiary cannot withdraw your balance. Closing the account requires release of the block; refusal of a national visa can be evidenced by the refusal notice. If you already live in Germany, contact your immigration office about release.
