Finding and contacting your Finanzamt
An Iranian taxpayer in Germany should contact the Finanzamt responsible for the actual tax matter and address. Berlin’s official search identifies the office by postcode and street; some taxes and business situations have central or special responsibilities.
Step by step
- Find the office and send the right requestUse the official postcode search, check any special tax responsibility, and contact the correct office through ELSTER or its listed submission route with your reference.
For personal income tax the residence office is generally relevant, with exceptions such as certain business cases. Use the official search and read the assigned office’s contact instructions instead of choosing an office by Iranian nationality or language preference.
ELSTER offers secure forms and messages. State the relevant tax number or reference and describe the issue clearly. Ordinary email is not a substitute for a legally required signed submission. After moving, notify the previous tax office promptly so it can arrange any responsibility change.
