During asylum: Aufenthaltsgestattung
An Iranian asylum applicant may stay under an Aufenthaltsgestattung while the legal conditions for the asylum procedure are met. This is distinct from a residence permit or a protection decision; check the certificate’s conditions and the responsible issuing office.

- Check and follow upCheck identity details and conditions on the certificate, contact the responsible BAMF branch or immigration office about missing or expiring documentation, and clarify work permission separately.
The certificate records identity details and a photograph for applicants without a residence title. BAMF or the relevant immigration office issues it according to the situation described in § 63 AsylG; responsibility can depend on the reception-facility obligation.
Pay attention to recorded geographical limits and other conditions. Work is governed separately by § 61 and is not unrestricted simply because you hold this certificate. Ask the responsible office about renewal or a missing certificate and obtain advice before assuming that it permits a particular journey or job.
