From asylum to work or study: Spurwechsel
An Iranian asylum applicant cannot assume a job offer or university place converts asylum status into a work or study permit. Check your exact procedural stage and residence route with qualified advice before withdrawing asylum; § 10 AufenthG imposes important barriers.

- Assess the actual route firstTake your asylum decisions, current status and job, study or training offer to qualified advice; ask the immigration office which legal route is possible before withdrawing or starting work beyond your permission.
Working during an asylum procedure and obtaining a different residence title are separate issues. Work permission follows the asylum rules, while § 10 limits the issue of titles during proceedings and after rejection or withdrawal. A limited withdrawal provision for specified skilled-worker titles depends on entry before 29 March 2023 and does not create automatic approval.
Vocational training has specific routes, including § 16g for qualifying cases with detailed identity and exclusion conditions. University admission is not the same as vocational training. Bring your actual decisions, residence documents and offer to advice and the responsible immigration office; assess the consequences before changing the asylum procedure.
